Watch Repair
From a quartz cell swap to a full chronograph service — each piece passes through steady hands and rests on a clean bench until it keeps time well again.
What We Do
Three Core Services
Battery & Quartz Service
Replacement of the cell, gasket inspection, and a function check for quartz watches. We test the movement draw to confirm a healthy power reading before returning the piece. A straightforward visit, usually completed the same day, with a note on any wear we observe.
- New cell fitted to specification
- Gasket condition checked
- Movement draw measured
- Same-day turnaround typical
Water-Resistance Review
A pressure assessment of seals and gaskets for watches intended to handle splashes or swimming. We replace worn gaskets and re-seat the caseback, then confirm the rating where the case allows. Helpful before a holiday or rainy-season travel.
- Pressure assessment to rated bar
- Crown and caseback seals renewed
- Case condition noted in report
- Useful before monsoon season
Chronograph Calibre Service
Detailed servicing of stopwatch complications, including the levers and resetting mechanism that need careful adjustment. We clean and lubricate the calibre and confirm each pusher functions cleanly. Carried out over a few days with a written summary of the work.
- Full disassembly and ultrasonic clean
- Column wheel and levers adjusted
- Each pusher and reset confirmed
- Written work summary provided
Why Hairspring
What Sets the Work Apart
Unhurried Assessment
Each watch is looked at properly before any work begins. If we find something beyond the original request, we contact you first — no surprises on the invoice.
Correct Lubricants Used
Watch oils and greases are calibre-specific. We stock the grades the manufacturer specifies rather than using a single all-purpose oil across different movement types.
Written Service Notes
For calibre-level work, you receive a plain-language summary describing what was found and what was done. Useful to keep with the watch for future reference.
Convenient Nimman Location
The workshop sits on Nimmanhaemin Road, straightforward to reach from most parts of Chiang Mai and with parking nearby on side sois.
Straightforward Communication
You are told the scope and cost before the work begins. If the situation changes mid-service, we reach out before proceeding. No jargon, no pressure.
Handled with Care
Cases and bracelets are protected from bench scratches during service. We return the watch in the same cosmetic condition it arrived in — the purpose is movement health, not a polish-up.
Has your watch been sitting in a drawer?
Many watches just need a fresh cell or a seal check to come back into daily use. Bring it in or send a message and we will let you know what it needs.
Common Questions
Frequently Asked
How do I know if my watch needs a full service or just a battery?
Quartz watches mostly need a cell swap. If the watch runs but drains cells quickly, there may be a movement issue worth checking. Mechanical watches that have not been serviced in five or more years typically benefit from a full clean and lubrication regardless of whether they are still running.
How long does a chronograph service take?
Chronograph calibre work is carried out over a few days. The disassembly, cleaning, lubrication, and reassembly of a column-wheel chronograph is not a rushed process. We will give you a realistic estimate when the watch is dropped off.
Can I send my watch by post or courier?
Yes. Contact us first so we can advise on appropriate packaging and confirm the service you need. We suggest insured shipping and a rigid outer box with foam or bubble wrap inside. We are not responsible for damage that occurs in transit, so good packaging matters.
Do you work on all watch brands?
We work on a wide range of quartz and mechanical calibres. Some proprietary movements require brand-specific tooling or parts that are difficult to source outside the manufacturer network. If that applies to your watch, we will tell you honestly rather than attempt work we cannot complete properly.
What does the water-resistance check involve?
We test the case under air pressure to the watch's stated rating, replace the crown seal and caseback gasket as needed, and re-seat the caseback correctly. We then re-test to confirm the assembly holds. The process does not involve submerging the watch in water during testing.
Are the prices listed on the site fixed?
The prices shown cover the standard scope of each service. If additional parts are needed — for example, a worn crown that requires replacement — we will quote separately before ordering anything. You are not committed to extra cost without agreement.
