Brought in a dress watch that had stopped. They tested the movement draw straight away, replaced the cell, and had it running before I finished my coffee on Nimman. Reassuring that they checked the current draw rather than just swapping the battery and hoping for the best.

Had my dive watch checked before heading to Koh Tao. The technician found the crown gasket was beginning to harden and replaced it as part of the water-resistance service. Post-service pressure test looked good. The report they handed back with the watch was a nice detail — clear and brief.

My father's old chronograph had not been serviced in many years. The reset was sluggish and one pusher felt stiff. Hairspring kept it for five days, sent me a brief message when they found some wear on the column wheel, and asked for approval before ordering the part. When I collected it, the timing summary was enclosed. It now runs noticeably better.

I was travelling and needed a fast battery change. They took my quartz piece immediately, and I was back on the road within the hour. No fuss, no upsell, just a clean replacement and a note that the gasket looked fine for now but would be worth revisiting in a year or two.

Sent a field watch in for a water-resistance check after I noticed some fogging on the crystal after a wet run. They confirmed the crown seal had gone soft and replaced both the crown and caseback gaskets. Good communication throughout. Turn-around was about two days, which was fine. I asked about polish-up and they politely noted that was not part of the service — which I respected.

I brought in two watches on the same visit — one for a battery and one for a proper mechanical service. They handled each separately and returned them at different times, which was fine and expected. The mechanical one came back with a printed service sheet noting the rate in three positions. Very organised workshop, and the man at the front desk speaks clear English.

Three Jobs in Detail
Case Study 01 · Battery & Quartz
The Situation
A quartz watch that had received cells from a shopping-centre kiosk on two previous occasions was draining batteries within three months. The owner suspected the movement had an issue.
What Was Done
Movement draw was measured immediately on intake. The reading was elevated, indicating a coil beginning to fail. A movement exchange was quoted and approved. New module fitted and draw re-tested.
Outcome
Watch returned same afternoon with a healthy draw reading. Owner was advised on expected cell life going forward. No further issues reported after six months.
"I had no idea the draw could be checked. The previous places just put a cell in and handed it back. This was a proper diagnosis."
Case Study 02 · Water-Resistance Review
The Situation
An expatriate brought in a sports watch before the monsoon season. The watch was six years old and had never had seals replaced. No fogging had appeared yet, but the owner wanted assurance before daily outdoor use.
What Was Done
Initial pressure test showed the case was holding, but just below the stated rating. Both gaskets replaced as precaution. Re-tested post-assembly and confirmed at full rated pressure.
Outcome
Watch collected within two days with a condition report. Owner used the watch throughout monsoon season without incident. Returned six months later for the same watch's battery — a straightforward same-day job.
"The written report was useful — I filed it with the watch's other papers. Good to have a date stamp for when the seals were last done."
Case Study 03 · Chronograph Calibre Service
The Situation
An inherited column-wheel chronograph that had not been serviced in over twelve years. The stopwatch function worked but the reset was slow to return and occasionally stuck in mid-position.
What Was Done
Full disassembly over four days. Dried lubricant found throughout the chronograph layer. Column wheel showed early wear on two teeth. Parts sourced and approved by owner before fitting. Full clean and re-lubrication. Timing machine showed rate of –4 sec/day at completion.
Outcome
Watch collected on day six with a written service summary including rate data and parts notation. Reset now returns cleanly and both pushers engage without hesitation. Owner has requested a follow-up check in twelve months.
"It belonged to my grandfather and I was worried about what they would find. They were honest about the parts needed and didn't rush the work. The summary they gave me reads more like a service history entry than a receipt."
